Bulls Forward Out 6 8 Weeks

Derrick Jones Jr. Injury Update

Bulls Forward Out 6-8 Weeks

Chicago, IL - January 13, 2022

Chicago Bulls forward Derrick Jones Jr. has sustained a hyperextension injury to his right knee and is expected to miss two to four weeks, according to the team. Jones Jr. was injured late in Wednesday's 138-112 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

An MRI revealed significant bone bruising in Jones Jr.'s knee, and he will undergo further evaluation in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury. The Bulls are expected to provide another update on Jones Jr.'s status later this week.

Jones Jr. has been a key contributor for the Bulls this season, averaging 7.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. His absence will be a blow to the Bulls, who are currently 22-25 and in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

With Jones Jr. out, the Bulls will likely turn to Javonte Green and Ayo Dosunmu for increased minutes at the forward position.
