Borussia Dortmund defeated RB Leipzig 4-1 in the 2021 DFB-Pokal final on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Erling Haaland scored the winning goal in the 71st minute, giving Dortmund their fifth DFB-Pokal title.
The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Dortmund took the lead in the 5th minute through Jadon Sancho, but Leipzig equalized in the 29th minute through Christopher Nkunku.
Dortmund regained the lead in the 45th minute through Haaland, and they extended their lead in the 57th minute through Marco Reus.
Haaland scored his second goal of the match in the 71st minute to seal the victory for Dortmund.
The win gives Dortmund their first major trophy since the 2017 DFB-Pokal. It is also Haaland's first major trophy with Dortmund.
Haaland has been in sensational form for Dortmund this season, scoring 41 goals in all competitions.
He is now one of the most sought-after players in the world, and it is likely that he will leave Dortmund at the end of the season.
Dortmund will now turn their attention to the Bundesliga, where they are currently in second place, four points behind Bayern Munich.
They will also compete in the Champions League next season, where they will be looking to make a deep run in the competition.
